‘The Ancient Mysteries call forth a return to Nature’s rhythms on an intuitive level. Spirit and Nature in Harmony! The earth seasons are designed to promote specific evolutionary needs. The autumn is the seed planting time; the winter is the gestation of the seed and the taking root. The spring is the bursting forth of those new seeds to release new aspiring life to be harvested in the summer. These are always reflected in the hidden mysteries of Nature. The spring equinox opens the veil between the physical and the spiritual so that a resurrection in our lives can be inaugurated. The keynote of this season is creation. It is the drive to move our lives upward, like a seed pushing forth out of the earth into the air. The spring is the time when the creative powers we have been nurturing through the winter can be expressed to initiate a new world of opportunities for ourselves.’ https://mytruthsetsmefree.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/spiritual-mysteries-of-the-vernal-equinox/ Nadine Marie V. It’s seemed a long time coming but spring is arriving here in deepest Dorset. The equinox beckons. It’s that moment of pivotal balance. Day and night are equal. Dark and light no longer compete. They’ve reached equilibrium. For the moment. But from now on, the daylight increases. The light makes itself felt. Kindling our forward movement once more. Releasing us into what we might be.
I don’t know you about you, but for me and so many people I know, it’s been a tedious winter. Wading up to my knees in mud. No snow to make snowmen with Charlie-Skye. How can a child get to be three and not have had the pleasure of throwing snowballs? Or finding a carrot for the snowman’s nose? I saw a few fairy flakes fall in London but they melted as soon as they hit the pavement. Something seems out of kilter with the seasons somehow. We’ve had beautiful ice patterns, cars so frozen over it was impossible to melt them. More rain than I care to remember. But we also had daffodils before Christmas, snowdrops in early January and lambs way out of season. Yesterday I glanced out of the window and was dazzled by a rainbow. The first in a long, long time. There’s been so much waiting. But, finally, spring has sprung into vibrant life.
Astrologically speaking, it’s the start of a new year. Impatient Aries sets the pace. The new young soul is bravely setting out on its journey around the zodiac. Outside my window the raucous rooks are out in force, rebuilding nests that have been torn down time and again in the winter gales. Hopes dashed almost daily. But these super gregarious beings remain ever hopeful. Reconstruction starts on any sunny day. And today is particularly bright. They are building high this year, said in these parts to be the sign of a particularly good summer. The birds themselves are looking sleek and glossy, they’ve obviously had a good winter and now they are raiding my neighbours’ carefully tended
garden for nesting materials – taking no notice at all of the ‘keep off’ signs as you can see.
Then it’s back to those precarious nests in the tree tops. I’ve watched with alarm as the branches whipped back and forth in the winter gales, birds clinging on for dear life. The nests might be gone, but the colony is still there. Twenty nests in the autumn, the remnants of two to renovate in the spring. The birds seem to enjoy playing with me, I just get a shot lined up at the farthest limits of my zoom lens, and they scatter. But I did catch them unawares a few times. Or did they allow? Who knows, these are mischievous totems.
Alchemy has been much on my mind of late. The alchemy of transformation, the alchemy of night (more about that in a later blog). This is what the wonderful ‘whats-your-sign’ has to say about black birds. Sadly it doesn’t cover rooks, only crows and ravens. But here’s the generic black birds and it’s pretty spot on as usual.
Birds robed in black do not give up their secrets easily. They love to watch us marvel over their messages. Black birds demand our commitment to learning their wisdom, and do not reveal their meanings unless they are convinced we’ve devoted ourselves completely to the path of understanding (both dark and light sides of) energy. This is a fundamental concept of alchemy which is: Transition and Transformation. The bird is symbolic of life in the heavens (higher ideals, higher path of knowing) and the color black is symbolic of pure potential. Between the two, there is no limit to human transformation – all we have to do is close the shutters of the rational mind, and start sojourning with our darkly feathered friends.(www.whats-your-sign)
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
The crystal community is opening on the Spring Equinox, 20th March!
What I’ve been waiting for through the dreary winter is our crystal community. It’s the thought that’s kept me pressing forward. And, like the spring equinox, it’s finally here! Mark and I have been striving to get it just right. In the process it went from being ‘members only’, to reflect the subscription element, to ‘the members’ community’, which more accurately reflects what I had in mind for it. I wanted somewhere that replicated my crystal groups where we all come together to share our thoughts and have fun exploring the wonderful crystal beings, but also wander off into other areas of special interest. A truly wholistic, worldswide space. And above all, a space goes beyond the usual website into a heartfelt support network of like-minded people. I think this says it all:
Let’s do it! On the 20th March you’ll be able to subscribe here: members community.
I would be delighted to welcome you to the new members' community section of my website and to have the opportunity of sharing my many passions with you.
