THE RIGHT AND LEFT BRAINS
Whilst all metaphysicians would assert that consciousness is not confined to the brain, one part of the brain is specifically orientated towards intuition. The human brain has four parts to it: the left and right hemispheres and the front and rear brains. The rear brain is the oldest, holding both personal and collective memories, and is concerned with autonomous bodily functions such as breathing.
The left and right hemispheres are concerned with different ways of thinking and perceiving the world. The left brain thinks in straight lines, the right in starbursts. One side of the brain, the right, is imaginative, intuitive and, like a muscle, can be strengthened with use, which is what this book is all about.
How you communicate is closely related to which hemisphere of your brain is the most active. Left brained people are precise and organised whereas right brained people tend to be more visual and creative. The hands often do the talking when words fail the right brained person – and they frequently confuse left and right. The left hemisphere is logical and rational. Where the right brain will make a huge intuitive leap and rarely knows how it got its result, the left brain reasons things through a step at a time. The left side of the brain dislikes complexity and ambiguity, the right side thrives on it.
If you are left handed, you are far more likely to use your right brain (the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body) and this in turn may affect your career. Many musicians, artists and actors are right brain dominant and 40% of architects are left handed. This is not surprising as it is the right brain that handles geometry and spatial awareness.

LEFT OR RIGHT BRAIN DOMINANCE
Most people use one side of their brain rather more than the other, although some people have balanced hemispheres. If you use your right brain, you will be artistic, perceptive and feeling orientated. Visualisation will be easy. You will resonate to metaphors and myths. Which gives you a head start when it comes to communicating with your intuition.
